BAKSOS (BAKTI SOSIAL) KSS 2012 KMHD UGM

Saturday, 13th of October 2012, when i usually still sleeping (yeah, Saturday is holiday so i usually wake up late) around 6 a.m. i already woke up. I prepared to go to Gunung Kidul to attend KSS (Kirtanyah Sada Saraswati), an event where KMHD UGM (Keluarga Mahasiswa Hindu Dharma Universitas Gadjah Mada) welcomed their new member. I came as “ sie kesehatan” and my job is to do Baksos and help when there’s people whom feel sick.

I departed around 8 a.m. with Ganet, Diah and Raya by car. It took about 1 hour to arrive. That day i joined the activity as usual. Night came, commitee gathered to be directed about “Jurit Malam”. “sie kesehatan” have to stayed in every pos to helped if there’s participant whom sick. I stayed at pos 4, where participant will got bitter drink (in every pos they got different drink with different taste, and in the end, they will told about what the meaning behind the taste). It also the last pos.

That night, the sky so dark. There are so many stars in the sky, which made the sky looked so beautiful. I stayed at that pos until around 3 a.m, feels so cold and sleepy.

Hmm, i’ll skip the story till the next day, when Baksos was held. As pharmacy student, my job is to prepared and stayed at the medicine counter. We also the one whom gave the medicine into the patient. This is always be my favourite part of KSS. It just feels like i can apply what i learn at the college. Together with Ganet, Dayu, Mega, Chandra, Cahya, Saras, Novi and Arya, i got the prescription from the doctors, searched the medicine, and then gave it to the patient (of course we also have to told the patient about information of the drugs), and because we can’t speak javanese, while some of the patient can’t speak Indonesian, we’ve got some help from Nur and Sastrin’s boyfriend.  Unfortunately, there’s still some medicine that we couldn’t give into the patient because it didn’t  available. But still, thanks a lot to Kamadhis whom already help us by gave the medicine.

Compared to some baksos that i ever experienced, this Baksos is the less busy. Even there’re stilll a lot of patient come to this Baksos, we didn’t feel as busy as usuall. Maybe because the patient is fewer or because pharmacy student increased. For this time, me ganet and dayu only read the prescription, direct the other to got the medicine and then we were whom gave it into the patient while also gave the information.

Why do i like Baksos? I already told you, that it feels like i can apply what i’ve got at college. Beside that, it really makes me feels happy if through this i can help the other. I can comunnicate with the patient. And when the patient smile back to me, when thay said thank you, wow that just a satisfaction moment that makes me feels like “ i’ve been in the right path, this job as pharmacist is right for me” . my happiness is at that time when they smile, i feel like i become a nice person. *haha*

Even that my main reason to participate at this event is baksos, i also joined some activity. I prayed at the Pura. I also help citizen to prepared the banten and food (i only helped a bit).
