Save Paper for the Earth

“ Arrgh, it’s not good!” miss A shout loudly. Her face looked fed up. She make the paper into a lump and throw it randomly.  There are a lot of papers junk  in her room’s floor. Most of them are almost empty paper, just there is a bit text on it.

When i was on senior high school, i ever made a documentary  film which had theme of GLOBAL WARMING. In that time my friends had an idea about save the earth and prevent global warming by reduce paper use. She had information that one rim of paper is equall with a 5 years old tree. Wow, can you imagine that? Just 500 sheets of paper made by a tree.  It means if you having a 50 sheets handout (for one subject or just a chapter) you already chop down 1/10 of that 5 years tree  -___- .

“Well, it just a tree, right? It doesn’t really matter”. You can think like that. But you have to know that a tree is really important for our environment and for our life. Right now, we’re suffer for Global  Warming. Do you realize that it’s getting hot out there? Do you realize that the weather and climate is change? Do you know that ices in pole is molten? Yes, you know. We know, and we feel it. But do we care? Hmm, it’s probably difficult to answer.

Global warming is an isue that appears everywhere. I think most of us know about it, so i won’t  write about it detailly. But i want to persuade and explain about relationship of global warming and reduced used of paper.

Global warming occurs as a result of increasing of carbon dioxide in atmosphere. It caused generally by fuel oxidation. In the other hand, trees need carbon dioxide to breath. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen which we need for breathing. It is a simple explanation that a lot of trees, means a lot of carbon dioxide taking by tree and it means, indirectly, trees prevent global warming.(Honestly it’s not that simple, but it will make it easier to be understanded)

The problem is, as a college student, we unconciously like to overuse paper. As example, for copying and print handout. For my own self, i prefer to read handout rather that read it in laptop. I just feel that it easier to understand if i read it on a sheet of paper(gyahaa). As result, i have a bunch of paper in my room. And sometime, i just read it once, before the examination. How ironic!!

So, what’s the conclusion?

I think the solution is to reduce paper use and try to recycled it. We can use so many ways to do this. First, we can reduce copying handout by borrow handout from our senior and giving ours into our junior. Second, if you have printer, why don’t you print handout with secondhand paper? It has empty space behind it. I really apreciate my friend, Ganet, whom do it. Third, use the empty space behind secondhand paper if you just want to, for example, making a summary for your own self or answer question. It’s good if you can read e-book and subject without print it out (but my own self can’t do it :p, except part about reading the e-book) J. Ah, i almost forget, just try not to use paper unwisely, like the ilustration above. Recycled also good, collect the papers, and sell it so another can recycled it.

You may have so many other ways than i can think for this problem. Try to share it friends.. It looked like only a small thing. But a big thing come from small things, right?? Let’s save our earth together!! J
